Nominate and Celebrate Dallas Black Marriage Day 2010
Dallas City Hall Flag Room
Friday, March 26, 2010
5:00pm to 7:30pm

Dallas Black Marriage Day began with the passion to spread a positive message of marriage in the African American population that marriage is good, beneficial and rewarding, though many in the black community have not seen a healthy marriage modeled. Good marriages are not extinct, and strong Black marriages need to be highlighted throughout our community!

Every year, couples all over North Texas are nominated for their commitment to their marriage. That doesn’t mean they have had a perfect relationship, it means that they have decided to make it work and to work through the struggles that all marriages go through. These couples have made the decision to make their own “happy ending.”

How are couples nominated? By people like you! You can nominate friends, family or yourselves! There are two categories. One for long term marriage 15 years or longer, and the other for is for Newlywed, married 5 years or less.

It is easy to do, just click on the “nominate” tab at the top of this page and describe in 800 words or less why you think a couple deserves to be in the Dallas Black Marriage Hall of Fame!

Nominees will be honored at a special reception ceremony at Dallas City Hall Flag Room, Friday, March 26, 2010, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. The reception will include the unveiling of last year’s winners, which will be adding two more pictures to the exhibition.

Congratulations to our 2009 Dallas Hall of Fame Winners Sylvester & Mattie McKennis and Newlywed Winners Oscar & Judy Ellis!

Make sure to put March 26nd, 2010 on your calendar and come celebrate all of the wonderful couples that have been nominated to the 2010 Hall of Fame!
